Dublin review. A review about Dublin in my own words. It’s true, (honest!), I was there on business, but that didn’t stop me taking pictures and the occasional video. So, following on from my last blog about Dublin, I’d thought I’d fill it out a bit with a few pics etc.

Okay, remember I went down to the Alamo Restaurant on Temple Bar? Well, it looked a bit like this:

And while I was sitting in there I saw two guys outside. One was taking a picture of the other one pointing at the ground…
      Pointing At The Ground

Naturally, I couldn’t let that one go by, could I? :) So, I managed to snap the photo above. And, once I’d finished my chimichanga, (yum yum!), I waddled out into the street to find out exactly what it was one man was pointing at…. and what another man was taking a photo of a man pointing at.. er..it :
      A Hole In The Pavement

Now, considering it’s in Ireland, you might think it was a Holy Shrine of some sort. Nope. Or it was one of those coins glued into the pavement with the “Village Idiot” sign above them. Nope, not that either. As you can see, it is, in fact, a hole in the pavement. There, now doesn’t that make you feel a whole lot better knowing that it’s not just ME who takes pictures of the weirdest things? :)

Dublin is a great place for just walking around. I remember the first time I was there as a little lad many years ago, (pre Euro by a good many years! :) ), that you could have got arrested for jay walking. I decided to see if this was still the case…

As you can see from the video above, (if you’re reading this blog post in Facebook – I’ve posted the video on my “Advanced Wall” below my blogs), it’s now an absolute pleasure and delight to cross the road in Dublin.

Directly across the road from the hotel was Christchurch Cathedral. It was closed to the public whilst they were filming:

      Filming At Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin

After a swift interrogation of the security guard, it would appear that they were filming another series of The Tudors starring Peter O’Toole. Well, I stood around for a while watching, but never saw him come out for one of his countless ciggie breaks…. apparently. Still, it was interesting to see the whole spectacle, which included this:
      Angelic choir girls

      - or lets put it this way, they appeared out of the back of the cathedral and were ushered across the road onto buses by people with walkie talkies – in true Hollywood fashion…. So I guess they had something to do with it, right? :)

Anyway, I enjoyed my brief time over in Dublin. And I just what to say thanks to Jim the taxi driver who told me some very funny stories on the way back to the airport yesterday – he deserved the few paltry Euros tip I gave him ;)

Oh yes – I guess you want to know about Ryan Air, right? Well – we all got on the plane… it moved about ten feet backwards…. and then we were stood on the tarmac for over half an hour due to “air traffic control”. Hopeless. Just hopeless.

And I’ve got it all to do again at the end of August – HURRAH! :)
