Guilty As Charged

Guilty as charged! It’s a been a slow start to the year here at Blogging With Dr P…. I believe I’ve spent too much time over on Facebook, and neglected you all here – my vast hoard internet web spider search engine bots, and the occasional real person that drops by :)

And it isn’t for the lack of not having anything to blog about – oh no. I think it’s more of a “getting the time” thing. But Facebook, and Twitter, (where I have been experimenting with all these “Automate Your Twitter Account” systems etc), and other distracting things have kept me away from the two things I like the most on the internet – making money, and writing my blog.

The web hosting and domain costs keep rolling in, but the Google Adsense revenue and other affiliate stuff I’m “into” keeps rapidly falling. I think I’m going to write an e-book and sell it through e-Bay and on here. It’s probably going to be about the “Making Money With Twitter” experiments I’ve been doing lately. That should make a few bucks :)

Incidentally, if you trip over a bag contains large wads of cash – it’s mine – and there’s a “Finders Reward” as well – lucky you! :)

Lincoln Biscuits

Lincoln biscuits. I have Lincoln biscuits! Lincoln biscuits cannot be bought in England, only on e-Bay, or in Ireland.  Buy Lincoln biscuits here:

I have Lincoln biscuits because I rampaged into a Tescos in Dublin the other day, (before diving into a taxi for the airport after being on a business trip to the Emerald Isles), with my suitcase and laptop bag. I pushed my way down the narrow aisles to get to the biccy section and found my prize:

Lincoln Biscuits

Now, all these craziness about Lincoln biscuits may seem a little odd to you. However, like many important things in history, the Lincoln biscuit has it’s own Lincoln Wiki. But here’s why Lincoln biscuits cannot be purchased in England anymore….

It was announced that they would be discontinued in Spring 2007.

The demise of the Lincoln can be attributed to the River Eden in Cumbria, and Tescos and the others. The river burst its banks back in January 2005 and flooded United Biscuits historic factory in Carlisle causing biscuit manufacturing havoc. Many biscuits suffered including the Gingernut, Bourbon and Morning Coffee. It wasn’t clear for a long time if the factory would actually fully repoen, or whether UB would take this as an opportunity to relocate.

By the time the Lincoln was back in production many large supermarkets had assumed it had gone for good and taken it out of their scheme of things. This is the kiss of death it would seem for most UB biscuits, which seem unable to survive unless they are serving a huge market place.

This came from a website called Biscuits Views. Some say that Lincoln biscuits can still be found in little corner shops around the country, or even in Sainsburys – but I have yet to see the evidence of this.

More Lincoln Biscuits

Lincoln biscuits are scrummy. I can’t really describe why they are so nice. They remind me of being a kid again. Dunking Lincoln biscuits in your tea – and getting them into your mouth before the soggy end fell off – now that was fun!

Anyway, Lincoln biscuits taste great! I got in from Dublin the other day and had my first Lincoln biscuit, (dunked in a hot mug of tea), for about 25 years. HMMM – it tasted great – and I managed to catch the soggy end of the Lincoln biscuit before it fell in my tea! :) This trip I only managed 10 packets in my laptop bag. I’ll get a bit more organised next time and bring back a case load of Lincoln biscuits!

Remember you can buy Lincoln biscuits here:

Isn’t it amazing the lengths people will go to in order to get their Lincoln biscuits? I’ll be getting more Lincoln biscuits soon! ;O)
