• On The Train Again

Yup. It’s been awhile since I last came to chat. I think Facebook and Twitter have been “turning my head” recently with their fancy ways of “social networking”. But there’s nothing beats a good blog, eh? ;0)

Equaly, I’ve been helping a local business out with their website. Making it a basic text website with the appropriate “onsite SEO” to be able for it to get found by Mr Google & Co. (SEO = Search Engine Optimisation). It’s also giving me a “real life” experience of having a client & understanding their needs etc etc.

In the “offline world” the six months from July to Dec always contains the most of my annual holiday. This makes it easier to plan my work – as I know when to give myself “tough work” – knowing there’ll be a week off at the end of it. Pretty much like this week actually! :0)

Oh yes – has the Icelandic Ash Cloud disappeared? Has the volcanoe stopped spewing ash out? It’s not in the news anymore – I guess the “Boys From BP” must have swung North and put a cork in it?!?

Upminister….. hmmmm – not a lot to say about it except a lot of people get on the train here. I wonder what they all do for a living? I wonder if there’s any psychics on the train wondering why I’m wondering what everyone does for a living who got on at Upminister?……..

The girl sitting next to me on the train has been texting/playing on her phone the same length of time I’ve been typing this blog entry. I wonder what she’s doing…? Maybe she’s blogging as well…. maybe she’s writing: “The guy next to me has been clicking away on that bloody annoying Motorola Dext keyboard since we got on the train. I wonder what the hell he is writing about all this time?!?”

Ah well – welcome to my world of “Meandering Blogging”….. ;0)

Is anyone keeping a track of this? It only seems like a few weeks ago I was sitting ouitside the barbers early on a Saturday waiting to get my hair cut. And here we are again.

I should put a chart on the sidebar of the blog to keep track? ;0)

      Sitting On A Train

Sitting on a train. I was just trying to think of the last “non business” train journey I’ve took – and you know what….. I can’t remember???

The most memorable train journey was probably in 1977 when all us good little Catholic altar servers went on a trip to Rome. We went by train – overland…. as trains tend to do ;0)

I think the whole journey took about 1.5 days. Sleeping 6 to a carriage. One of those old trains with a separate corridor. What fun! I remember sticking my head out of the train carriage window – and saw a GIRL (!) doing the same. I thought I’d try out my “schoolboy French”….. it turned out she was from Darlington. Ah well.

Phew! Lucky escape just now – I had some smelly Essex oink sitting next to me…. but then he moved seats.

Travelling “business” by train is not as much fun. The journey is not as interesting as I know there’s work at the end of it :0(

And going on the Tube during summer is definitely a great way to lose weight (!) – but not very pleasant in general!

On this train journey you’d swear you were in Eastern Europe or West Africa with the different voices and dialects bouncing around. It’s only the English who are quiet and “reserved” in their country, eh? ;0)

      Bavarian Beerhouse, Tower Hill, London

Bavarian Beerhouse, Tower Hill, London – that”s where we were today.

      Bavarian Beerhouse Meal

      Bavarian Beerhouse Meal

The food, beer and service were great. I had Bavarian ghoulash, stewed red cabbage and something beginning with S like noodles.

The waitress did try and stiff me for a 10% service charge by just manually writing it on the receipt. When I queried her about it she tried to blag by saying this was “normal”….. HA!?!
We did give her a tip – but just be warned about that one.

Overall I’d say that a trip to the Bavarian Beerhouse at Tower Hill is very much worth it. If you like traditional Bavarian cooked food and a good selection of German beers – get yourself to the Bavarian Beerhouse – come out Fenchurch St station at the Tower Hill exit and it’s right in front of you under the arches.
