Internet News Websites

Internet News Websites – your news is too L..O..N..G!

I think internet news websites have forgotten that they can’t just throw the front page of the printed newspaper onto a web page and expect it to “work”. The 1,000 or so words of a broadsheet newspaper turns into a long scrolly-scrolly session on a website.

I know when to put a newspaper down, (when I’m bored with the story, or want to come back to it later). And I know when to get to other parts of the article – because I can quickly scan to the bottom and see if I have to turn the page to get to the part I want to read.

But some internet news websites do one of two things – have a HUGE long scrolly page which just becomes tedious to read. Or they chop the story up into so many advert laden additional pages which you have to go through to get the whole story.

Please – internet news website owners – get it right. Lay out your newspaper print story’s with web page copy and the “correct” length. Thank you.
