On Saturday 19th 2008 Ikea celebrated 21 years in the UK. We did not know this when we casually went shopping to Ikea yesterday morning.
We did not know:
1. The car park at Ikea, Lakeside, Essex would be full at 09:30am.
2. The Ikea store would be full.
3. We would have to wait for an hour in the warehouse for part of a shelf unit that wasn’t there.
4. The Ikea store had been open from 6am - and was closing at midnight - staying open 21 hours.
So, you can imagine our surprise that Ikea had been in the UK for 21 years. It seemed like it would take 21 years to get out of the store!
However, it was nice to get 21% off the goods, (cabinet and curtains), that we bought.
And for more great deals on Ikea furniture, take a look here for some great bargains:
At the 30th Birthday celebrations I suggest Ikea get:
1. 30 times more staff.
2. 30 times more stock on their best selling lines.
3. 30 lines for sale only during the 30th birthday celebrations.
4. (At least…!) 30 more parking spaces for the 30 times more customers you’ll be getting
Happy Birthday Ikea! ![]()
