Don’t get me wrong – I think she’s a great girl etc, but there’s no denying it that if there wasn’t such a “publicly managed” split from Ashley Cole, (it has been, and continues to be, on the front pages of the gossip magazines with Quotes/press release etc), I doubt Cheryl C would be being interviewed by Piers Morgan. The timing of her new single/singing on the show was probably decided months ago, (as the schedule of the show requires guest artists for these live sections of the shows progression).
Sadly, though, my media war torn skepticism reminds me that she still is a celebrity with a publicity agent/marketing team behind her – and… that all her recent media activities are not by accident:
1. The Piers Morgan interview – was she always scheduled to be on his show, or was it just because of the break with Ashely Cole?
2. Could the interview have been done before the start of the Premier League, or before the start of the latest X-Factor series? Well, no – as it wouldn’t have had as much impact.
3. And, of course, the interview, the show, (including her singing performance on the show) – was all to coincide with the release of her new single.
Ultimately, in my opinion, I think Cheryl Cole is a good looking girl from a “girl band” who launched a solo career – and got involved with one of the largest TV talent shows in the UK. After that – it’s in the hands of Cheryl Cole’s management team to ensure maximum visibility for Cheryl Cole whatever way they can.
I think This “Celebrity Culture” is getting out of hand. Why are people so interested in these non entities. What have they ever done that is of any concequence that atttracts this type of adulation. It is completely beyond me.
