Stress
Stress. What is stress? What stresses you out? What give you the most stress?
Once, in Ireland, when I was about six, or seven, I was playing on a small wooden jetty on the banks of the River Lee, at Monkstown, Cork when I dropped a lolly stick through the cracks in the planks. I watched it bob about for a bit, and then the wash from a passing boat started to push it along under the jetty. I was desperate to get the stick back, (as it was only inches from my finger tips).
Of all the stressful things that have happened in my life, for some reason – that remains the most weirdest stressful one of all.
I have no idea why that is so stressful – but it is. I still think about that event like it was yesterday. Does it stress you out to lose something small and insignificant? And yet, on the day, that lolly stick was the most important thing in the world to me. (And clearly still has some significance now).
