“Nazi Pope Says “NO!” To Gays” – looks like it should be the headline of some tabloid newspaper, right? Well, I just thought it was the best way to describe what the Pope has recently said.
On Monday 22nd the former Hitler Youth Pope, Pope Benedict implied that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behavior was just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction. He compared behavior beyond traditional heterosexual relations as “a destruction of God’s work.”
He said “The tropical forests do deserve our protection. But man, as a creature, does not deserve any less.” Excellent analogy. I’d like to know where “normal” heterosexual folks live in this rain forest analogy – probably the dense undergrowth where all the moss and worms are?
Anyway having annouced his anti-gay thoughts to the world, do you think he’ll be setting up internment camps next and rounding up all gay people? Y’know – once a Nazi…… always a Nazi…?
A tad exaggerated since he was actually drafted into the Hitler youth which was enforced on all German kids at that age, doesn’t make him a Nazi! He is a facist in terms of his pronouncements on, for example , gays and atheists and of course has turned a blind eye with regard to the institutional cover up of sex offenders who are of course not atheists and bash gays by papal decree and yet perform abusive acts on children who are the same sex as them. We are of course locked into the 14th century as the out of touch old bloke in the red frock said landing at heathrow and then sent home. Ironic that the vatican still actually then , on current evidence lives in the dark ages when the papacy and the clergy were totally corrupt, sinned without impunity and ruled the ignorant through fear. So by that token it is the Catholic church that is living in the 14th century and I hear they are big on Latin too. The simple fact is that numbers are down because this Pope is an academic, the complete opposite of a liberal, since he was elected , not by God, but a chamber of reactionary geriatric in some room in the vatican making smoke signals and although he thinks by focusing on the souls of the abuse we will somehow overlook the fact that he and his hierachy have gone unpunished and not been held accountable to ignoring the abuse and trying to keep the “good name” of the church intact. People in England are not fools and a number of catholics have boycotted the rallies, hence the number of spare seats and the abuse scandal is only one of the reasons why moern catholics are increasingly seeing him and the Church as no longer relevant or providing the loving guidance they want.
John – show me the piece of paper that Pope Jnr signed at the time of his drafting that said “Actually, I don’t believe in any of this Hitler Youth/Nazi thing… I’m only doing this so I won’t be killed…. my Christian faith is not strong enough for me to say NO”………..? If he was 100% against it all he could have said/done something about it at the time. Of course, he may not have made it to be Pope now if he had – but at least his conscientious would have been satisfied? (It’s my sole, and incredibly weak, but slightly plausible explanation of “Once a Nazi……?” – and I’m sticking with it!)
