I can definitely recommend Brussels, Belgium, as a top class city to visit in Europe. During the Live Aid concert of 1985 I was in Belgium. In the months coming up to July of that year, I had spent sailing a yacht from Wales to Spain, hitchhiking up to Belgium, and getting a job decorating the former Bolivian Embassy in Brussels – honest. On the day of the Live Aid gig, me and brother Dom, (who was working in Brussels at the time), were bar hopping around the city – catching different parts of the event as we necked Jupiler, Stella etc in the various ex-pat and local herdy-gerdy bars. Finally we ended up back at the apartment to slur through the rest of the show. Remember – Belgium Makes Great Beers! 
Now my good friends at the Radisson Blu group now have a hotel just off the Grand Place in Brussels: Raddison Blu Grand Place. This is an ideal spot to stay in town as you are right near an enormous amount of history, architecture etc – right in the centre of the city.
